About The Skyla Project
At the SKYLA Project, our mission is to ensure every fire service in the UK is equipped to provide life-saving care to animals in emergencies. Through fundraising and donations, we supply Skyla Small Animal Rescue Kits for every fire engine – giving firefighters the tools they need to deliver vital pre-veterinary care at the scene.
Each kit includes three pet oxygen therapy masks, 2 basket muzzles, a slip lead, animal handling gloves, a heavy duty animal control pole and a bespoke bag designed for frontline use.
Alongside these, we can also provide specialist training and equipment to support rescues, including Online training / e-learning in small animal rescue, Ruth Lee Mannequins for unconscious animal rescue practice and Casper Mannequins for CPR training
Fire services can receive these essential resources by committing to fundraising efforts, helping us continue to expand this life-saving initiative nationwide. Together, we can make sure no animal is left behind in an emergency.

Heavy-duty dog poles are used in emergency small-animal rescues to provide safe control and distance between firefighters and an animal that may be frightened, injured, or aggressive. Its primary purpose is to protect both the animal and the firefighter by allowing secure restraint without direct handling, reducing the risk of bites or further injury. By stabilising the animal, the pole gives the ability to administer first aid, move the animal to safety, or transfer it for medical care as quickly and humanely as possible.
